Graphic & Display Installation QA Checklist

Purpose:

This checklist ensures every store fixture, graphic, and display is installed correctly, safely, and on-brand. It is designed for both beginners who may be new to retail installation and advanced users who need a complete technical reference.

How to use it:

  • Follow the checklist step by step during pre-installation, installation, and post-installation phases.
  • Document your progress using photos, notes, or any project management tool of your choice.
  • If you are a Teamwork client, you can use CONNEXT, Teamwork’s proprietary project management and reporting platform, to log updates, share photos, and track accountability. Non-clients can use spreadsheets, apps, or printed checklists.

Step 1: Pre-Game Prep

Everything in place before the crew hits the floor.

Verify Site & Layout

  • Measure store dimensions, ceiling heights, and floor levels.
  • Cross-check measurements with CAD drawings or installation plans to avoid misalignment.

Check Materials & Fixtures

  • Confirm all graphics, vinyl wall wraps, signage, shelving, gondolas (freestanding shelving units), and millwork (custom wood or built-in installations like cabinets, trim, or wainscoting) are on-site, complete, and undamaged.
  • Ensure quantities match the project specifications to prevent shortages or delays.

Tools & Equipment Ready

  • Collect drills, levels, ladders, adhesives, and personal protective equipment.
  • Test electrical outlets, lighting, or other equipment if required for the installation.

Review Documentation

  • Review installation plans, shop drawings, or any notes for custom millwork or site-specific adjustments.
  • Highlight anything unique about the location that could affect the installation.

Step 2: Installation in Action

Bring the vision to life with precision and care.

Fixtures & Shelving

  • Ensure gondolas, slat walls, counters, and merchandise displays are level, secure, and correctly spaced.
  • Confirm the layout matches floor plans and brand standards.

Millwork & Custom Installations

  • Inspect cabinets, built-ins, doors, trim, crown molding, wainscoting, and paneling for proper fit, alignment, and finish.
  • Make on-site adjustments where necessary.

Graphics & Signage

  • Check vinyl wall wraps, murals, decals, lightboxes, and illuminated signage for placement, alignment, adhesion, and visual quality.
  • Ensure all signage is readable, consistent with brand standards, and visually appealing.

Documentation During Installation

  • Take process photos at each stage to track progress and note any adjustments or issues.
  • For Teamwork clients: upload photos and notes to CONNEXT for real-time visibility.
  • For non-clients: save photos and notes in your preferred system (printed checklist, Excel, or project app).

Step 3: Final Touches & Glow-Up

The details that turn “good” into “wow.”

Visual Inspection

  • Confirm alignment, spacing, and overall presentation meet brand standards.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure fixtures are secure, walkways are clear, and installations comply with safety and accessibility standards (e.g., ADA).

Minor Adjustments & Touch-Ups

  • Smooth surfaces, realign decals, tighten fasteners, and remove minor debris.
  • Note: this checklist does not include full janitorial cleaning services.

As-Built Documentation

  • Take “after” photos to record final installation conditions.
  • Log completed steps in CONNEXT or your chosen tracking method to maintain accountability and create a reference for future projects.

Step 4: Accountability & Scorecard

Turn your checklist into a performance superpower.

  • Assign responsibility for each QA step to a field lead or team member.
  • Track completion, corrections, and overall quality.
  • Identify recurring issues to improve future store rollouts, seasonal campaigns, or multi-location projects.
  • Share updates with stakeholders to ensure transparency, proper timelines, and client confidence.

Pro Tips for Maximum Impact:

  • Treat photos and notes as proof of quality and a learning resource for new team members.
  • Use this checklist alongside pre-construction site surveys to catch potential issues early.
  • Review recurring errors to continuously improve installation efficiency and performance.
  • Even if you’re not using CONNEXT, maintain consistent documentation. It’s key to accountability and quality control.
